I was born in Enfield, Middlesex in the vintage year of 19#9 (Ok I'm a fifties child, but if I catch you telling this to others then I'll not be too pleased.)
I soon moved to Whitehaven in Cumberland (now Cumbria), not out of choice I might add, as I was only 2 years old at the time.
A short 7 years later I was on the move again, this time back 'darn sarf', as they say, to the Dorset/Hampshire area. Living in various places there amongst all the "grockles" (holiday makers) for 23ish years.
Finally out of my own choice I moved back 'Upt North lad' and have been living in West Yorkshire (gods country) for the last 14ish years.
I started my working life as an apprentice Radio & Television engineer (god that was a long time ago), I then moved on, after getting very disillusioned with the money, and I landed a job with Hacker Radio in Bournemouth as their Senior Audio Engineer.
After that place burnt down (very sus). I had a couple of small, oddish, jobs but eventually went to work for what is now Zellweger but used to be J&S Sieger Ltd, Poole. I was there 8+ years. This is where I learnt I had a natural, geekishness for PC's and designing and building logic circuits.
From there I took a left turn into a maintenance department at Federal Mogul West Wind Air Bearings Ltd, Poole (now that's what I call a business name). I learnt how to be an Industrial Sparky, passing my exams at night school etc.
With living 'darn sarf' at that time, you had to be a millionaire to survive. The house prices had risen through the roof with mortgages being very low and then came the big bang! House prices and mortgages swapped ends. Guess at what stage I bought my house?
... you guessed it, at the most expensive time just before the prices started to drop and the mortgage rates started to rise, within 6 months I had lost £20,000.DOH!!! (and lots of it). But heck its only paper money.
Then the penny dropped. 'Upt north lad'. The house prices where still low, jobs where 10 a penny and the prospects looked rosy.
So with-in 2 months of deciding the north was the future (as well as garlic bread) I was living up there in a 3 bedroom house with a mortgage that was £40,000 less than the south, a job that paid just as well as my last job and then within another 9 months I moved to a company that gave me a 50% rise in salary and I'm still working for them (well just)
They are the worlds largest soft drinks manufacturer, no prizes for guessing who, and I am their software manger. I have been there for 13 years but I am looking at setting up my own business very soon (pst, keep it a secret as I don't want anyone know yet).
If you have a browse through the rest of the buttons on the left you will find out all manor of things about me and my family. For instance..
I'm into Kit Cars, motor bikes (got myself a ZZR600), eBay etc etc.
Well that's enough for now, the larger has finally taken over and I am busily tripe-writing and making little sense to you, but a lot to my fingers....
When I can think of anything else that might be remotely interesting I will add it. Until then, thanks for reading this and I hope it was successful in sending you to sleep.
BUT DON'T FORGET TO SIGN THE GUEST BOOK!
Cheers ;-)
